Sensors Converge Day 2 review: A hybrid conference, smart windows, diversity and inclusion

Day 2 of Sensors Converge in San Jose, California, highlighted the benefits of holding a hybrid in-person and virtual event, as live show attendees were able to access no-touch demonstrations and interactive conference capabilities designed with health and safety in mind, while virtual attendees could click into full keynotes and panel sessions, in addition to live interviews hosted by Fierce Electronics editor Matt Hamblen.

In the Day 2 keynote speech and later in a one-on-one conversation with Fierce Electronics, Aditya Dayal, vice president of AI and sensors at View, talked about the use of smart window glass technology to monitor and manage environmental conditions in office buildings. Dayal also discussed how this technology could be processed by AI to enable insights that could change how building owners manage their properties.

Later on in Day 2, Meeta Roy, director of strategy and planning at Peloton Interactive, hosted a panel of women talking about the importance of diversity and inclusion practices in design and technology innovation. The panel discussed how to identify and solve biases in the assembling of teams and in work processes. Doing so can help enable the creation of more diverse teams and products that reflect the unique traits and differences in the user audiences new technologies are intended to benefit.

Day 3 of Sensors Converge will feature a keynote speech on the exciting, emerging sector of quantum computing from Christian Bauer, Theory Group Leader and PI of Quantum Computing for the Physics Division of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Also, there will be sessions on the Industrial Internet of Things, pandemic-related technologies and applications that could be here to stay and last but not least, the Best of Sensor Awards.
