Sensors Converge 2022 Newsdesk Interview with Sven Beiker, Sensors Converge Advisory Board

Alejandro Pinero of Questex interviewed Sven Beiker, Sensors Converge Advisory Board, at the News Desk at Sensors Converge 2022 to discuss the 2022 event.

“It was quite interesting to see in the sense of Smart Sensors that people are putting more and more intelligence into the sensor. Sensors used to be a particularly smart thing for one thing. It would just send something, but now all the intelligence is going into it and it’s going to become more and more miniaturized, and that is incredible what people are putting in. They are talking about what used to be a system on a chip (SOC) is now a system in a sensor.” Sven added.

Alejandro asked, “What are some of the key trends to look out for for the next year until we are back here?” Sven replied, “Certainly autonomous driving.”

Sven talked about how sensors in autonomous driving is becoming a debate in the sense of whether or not autonomous driving can move forward with or without laser sensors. A new topic which has presented itself is 4D radar and various imaging radar technologies.

“There were quite a few talks about ultrasonic sensors. Which are used for parking as it generates the beeping noise. These sensors are getting more range through MEMS technology and are becoming cheaper.” Sven stated.
