ZMD AG, Dresden, Germany offers its ZMD44102 second-generation RF transceiver IC and starter kits that comply with IEEE 802.15.4 and are designed for use in ZigBee applications. The sub 1 GHz transceiver operates in both the 902–928 MHz and the 868–870 MHz bands. Features include range performance of >250 m at 0 dBm output power, ultra-low-power operation modes (network maintenance power mode is <3 µA), robust data transmissions up to 40 Kbps, and the inclusion of a thin-hardware MAC at the physical layer of the radio.
