Podcasts are everywhere, and tens of thousands of them explore a variety of tech subjects, including Internet of Things topics.  IoT is such a broad field that it demands the broad discussion that a 25-minute, or even a 45-minute, podcast can help provide.

That’s not to say there isn’t already plenty of written published material in white papers and reports on IoT topics, but podcasts on IoT seem to have opened the door to interviews of IoT experts by relatively little-known tech journalists or even hobbyists who ask savvy questions and sometimes elicit provocative responses.

Often, these podcasts are highly produced in audio and video, with background music, search notes and full transcripts posted online.  They tend to be conducted in an informal talk show manner, which breaks down many of the norms of traditional business and technology journalism but opens the door to a range of philosophical insights on matters such as the impact of the metaverse on IoT. Plus, they offer greater intimacy than a printed report, featuring engaging hosts who are willing to joke and cajole their interview subjects.

A quick web survey reveals a variety of the most-searched podcasts on Internet of Things topics, everything from IoT security after Russia invaded Ukraine to smart building energy management to cellular connection management.  Some of the popular IoT podcasts feature interviews with CEOs and top executives.

In one recent installment on the IoT for All podcast,Qualcomm’s Art Miller, vice president and global head of retail IoT, described his role as well as the broad retail IoT vertical during a 25-minute interview and dialog with host Ryan Chacon.  A YouTube video of the podcast is included with a full transcript and a countdown of different topics that came up, including “where companies push back when looking to adopt IoT.”  (Miller’s response, as many might expect, includes the recognition that companies are concerned over cost and return on investment—still.)

Here is a list of nine IoT podcasts, several among the most popular, based on web searches, all recommended by blogger Madeline Miller. She covers IoT news and innovation and writes for several professional writing services including Paper Fellows, Ox Essays and Boom Essays.
