At the prostep ivip Symposium 2019, CONTACT Software and the Fraunhofer IPK will explain the results of their new IoT study. The survey shows where the German industry currently stands when it comes to smart products.
Digitization and its impact on product development is the central topic at the prostep ivip Symposium 2019, which more than 700 experts from America, Asia and Europe will discuss for two days. CONTACT Software takes up this year's motto "Collaboration in the Age of Smart Products and Services" in its contributions from different perspectives.
On the first day CONTACT and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology (IPK) present the central results of the IoT study "Smart Industrial Products 2019". They questioned the strengths and deficits of digital strategies in German industry: What changes do companies expect in their business models? How consistently do they implement smart products and integrated services? Where are the biggest challenges?
"The study confirms that a lot has to change in the value creation networks," says co-editor Stefan Gregorzik, who is responsible for the cross-departmental IoT activities at CONTACT Software. "Here, companies like us are challenged to provide better tools and methods for systems engineering or collaboration with partners, for example".
Smart products also require new ways of a holistic virtual validation. CONTACT Software and invenio Virtual Technologies provide state-of-the-art algorithms and functions for Digital Mock-Up (DMU) directly in the PLM process. In their presentation, the partners will highlight how users along the PEP can benefit from these new possibilities and check their designs more easily.
MANN+HUMMEL - world market leader for filtration - will present agile methods in product development within the framework of classic project processes. At the symposium, MANN+HUMMEL will show why the group relies on agile methods and what advantages the company achieves with them.
The prostep ivip Symposium 2019 will take place from April 9-10 in the International Congress Center Stuttgart, Germany. If your IoT curiosity is piqued, get your very own copy of the “Smart Industrial Products 2019” study.
