Inductive Coupling Devices Target Moving Parts Apps

Pepperl+Fuchs’ short range wireless inductive coupling system
Pepperl+Fuchs Inc.

Expanding Pepperl+Fuchs’ short range wireless inductive coupling system (WIS) are flat pack devices that allow power and signal coupling to transfer across an air gap measuring up to 20 mm. The wireless devices allow connecting sensors to moveable platforms without concerns of twisting and rotating cables. Applications include rotating tables, moving pallets, modular tooling platforms, and sliding fixtures. The WIS transfers both power and signal without the use of batteries using two transmission elements that allow transfers when they come within the allowable proximity range. The system interfaces up to eight PNP sensors via a single interface block. Multiple secondary modules can connect to a single primary whether they’re operating in inductive, capacitive, ultrasonic, or photoelectric sensing scenarios.
