The eZ430-RF2500 development tool for designing embedded systems from Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, TX, combines the company's ultra-low-power MSP430 microcontrollers (MCU) with wireless communications. Packaged in a USB stick form factor, the tool offers 2 RF-enabled microcontroller target boards and a PC debugging interface and includes all the hardware and software needed to program the MCU and low-power 2.4 GHz transceiver. The 16-bit MCU features 32 KB Flash memory, 1 KB RAM, 10-bit ADC sampling up to 200 Ksps, 5 low-power modes, and other on-chip peripherals. The CC2500 RF transceiver is designed for low-power wireless applications in the 2.4 GHz ISM band.
