Wineman Technology Releases INERTIA Enterprise Edition for NI VeriStand

Real-Time Test Control Software Offers New Features for Managing Test Cells

SAGINAW, MI -- Wineman Technology, Inc. introduces INERTIA Enterprise Edition, a new version of its innovative real-time test control software. As an add-on for NI VeriStand, INERTIA software provides engineers a single, flexible platform to define, manage, and perform testing on even the most complex applications. The new INERTIA Enterprise Edition offers additional unique tools to more efficiently manage, organize, and operate test cells, including features for managing numerous test stations where version control and system component definition is especially important.

"We found that many of our customers needed a way to more efficiently manage the organization and operation of their test cells," said Roy Krans, Wineman Technology Product Manager. "This inspired us to develop a version of INERTIA that provided the necessary tools and version control functions for managing tests, test results, and resources within a test cell or across multiple test cells, while still allowing users the flexibility and ease-of-use that they have come to expect with INERTIA."

The INERTIA Enterprise Edition builds upon the powerful features of the original INERTIA software tool, adding additional test management functions for increased quality and efficiency of distributed test systems. The software acts as a control apparatus for multiple test cells, managing test system definitions, test requests, and test data. It also delivers full versioning control of tests and test system configurations through networked server support, ensuring that the correct tests are being performed at each test station. These new features help test engineers enjoy greater control over test management, reducing both risk of test operator error and test time.

The new INERTIA Enterprise Edition offers all powerful features found in the standard

INERTIA tool, and adds the following:

•Restart partially completed tests: INERTIA Enterprise Edition takes snapshots during test execution and tracks test status in the database, allowing system restarts at any section of a test, including endurance and reliability tests that require many cycles. For example, if a test cell loses power halfway through a long endurance test, the test engineer can restart at any point rather than being forced to start from the beginning of the test. In addition, data already recorded is not lost.
•Easily define and manage tests: Test parameters, results, and metadata all can be defined and housed within a single test file – making it easier to replicate tests in new applications and ensuring the integrity of the test. Users can define pass/fail criteria for any location within a test as part of results requirements, and parameters can be edited on the testing floor without making any changes to the test itself.
•Execute tests, monitor test variables, and general test status: INERTIA Enterprise Edition users can monitor local variables in real time, using the built-in test execution tool, as well as track profile execution and monitor test results. This allows test engineers to make informed decisions based on test data more quickly than waiting on the test run to be complete.

INERTIA and the INERTIA Enterprise Edition are both designed to help engineers rapidly configure and deploy real-time control and test systems, including those for engines and motors; actuators, valves and pumps; turbines and gear boxes; auxiliary power units (APUs); tire test systems; life cycle durability; and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS). Since 2003, INERTIA has been featured in a wide range of test applications – from large-scale earthquake structural test to spacecraft flight control simulation and model-based transmission testing.
