WEIDMANN announces the completion of ISO17025 accreditation

ST. JOHNSBURY, VT -- WEIDMANN Electrical Technology, a global leader in electrical insulation, components, diagnostics and monitors for transformer manufacturers and transformer owner/operators, is pleased to announce the completion of ISO/IEC17025 accreditation for all its 14 diagnostic testing labs across the globe.

WEIDMANN owns and operates 14 Diagnostic Service Centers across North America, Mexico, and China making it the only service provider with global reach that is ISO/IEC17025 accredited. Each Diagnostic Service Center provides testing services and technical engineering support to its clients to insure they are provided with timely and accurate actionable information that assists them in critical decision making necessary to manage the health of their critical electrical equipment. The WEIDMANN brand insures, as it has for over 100 years, that products and services will be of the highest quality, offered at competitive prices and backed by industry leading customer service and technical support.

"This designation means that wherever our customers are and whatever Diagnostic Service Center they use, they can be confident that test specifications are consistently executed in the same manner per ASTM/IEC standards," says Zach Hatch, Director of Operations for WEIDMANN Diagnostics.

The ISO/IEC 17025 standard indicates WEIDMANN Diagnostic laboratories have formally demonstrated specific technical competence to produce precise, accurate test data. The standard accesses technical competence of staff, validity and appropriateness of test method, traceability of measurements and calibrations to national standards, handling of test samples, and quality assurance of test data.

With a standard quality management system in place, our consistency, repeatability and accuracy across multiple sites are unmatched in the industry. The process took two years to complete with the support of the ISO accreditation body, Laboratory Accreditation Bureau (L-A-B). Jason Stine, Testing Program Manager for L-A-B was impressed with the commitment, support and effort demonstrated by all lab personnel at all the labs. "I wanted to say how very impressed we were with the hard work and dedication that was exhibited by your entire organization."

Jeff Goolgasian, President of WEIDMANN Diagnostics notes, "ISO accreditation has made us a better operation and we didn't stop there. During this time we also invested in a lab automation system that ties many of our test sets directly to our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) eliminating much of the manual off-line calculation and data entry. The productivity savings helped to offset some of the added costs of ISO and further improves our accuracy. In looking for a testing provider, ISO and lab automation should be at the top of the list of requirements...the benefits are undeniable."
