Version 7.3 of Bright Cluster Manager and Bright OpenStack Debuts

Bright Computing continues to enhance its industry-leading Bright Cluster Manager software solutions with the announcement of Version 7.3 of Bright Cluster Manager™ and Bright OpenStack™, scheduled for release in July. The updates incorporate enhanced support for containers, revamped integration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), improvements to the interface with the Ceph distributed object store and file system, and a variety of other updates that make deployment and configuration easier and more intuitive.

Version 7.3 revamps Amazon Web Services (AWS) integration, simplifying deployment of AWS Cluster Extension and Cluster-on-Demand, as well as adding the ability to create multiple clusters-on-demand in parallel.

Container upgrades include the ability to setup a Docker deployment from CMGui Kubernetes Wizard or from command line interface, Flannel Networking integration for Kubernetes Pods as well as Docker registry integration and Docker 1.11 integration.

Version 7.3 also provides support for the Infernalis and Jewel versions of Ceph and has added numerous user experience improvements, including warnings and more notification events.
Bright Cluster Manager’s add-on for big data cluster management will include faster and more reliable deployment of big data tools. Support has been added for recent upgrades of selected Hadoop/Spark tools and for security features on Kerberos and wire-encryption. Bright Cluster Manager for Big Data also now supports Apache Cassandra and Alluxio, as well as new roles for Apache Zeppelin and Apache Ignite.

Bright OpenStack v7.3, which is based on the OpenStack Mitaka release, includes support for Fernet secure messaging token. In addition, Version 7.3 supports OpenStack’s Cluster-as-a-Service (CaaS) layer, which is now officially production-ready.

Version 7.3 includes a variety of other updates, all designed to make setup, configuration and deployment faster and more intuitive. Providing a unified user experience across high performance computing clusters, big data clusters, and OpenStack private clouds, Bright v7.3 also enables seamless deployment and configuration of third-party components and features.
