The MTS 360 SMD rotary position sensor from Piher International Corp., Libertyville, IL, is a 6 by 17 by 18 mm Hall-effect-based rotary position sensor that provides 360° absolute position feedback, is rated up to 25 million cycles, and has a through-shaft design. The sensor offers electrical angles up to 360° with no dead band, linearity as low as ±0.5%, operating temperature range of –40°C to 150°C, and max. operating speed of 300 rpm. The device can be programmed with a F.S. output with angles <360°, and has an output selectable between analog, 12-bit PWM, or 14-bit SPI; a second output channel provides a programmable switch signal. Applications include optical imaging stabilization, precision medical devices, HVAC systems, automotive control systems, and robotic and automation feedback systems.
