DELTA, BC, /PRNewswire/ - AirTest Technologies (TSXV: AAT) announced that it has been asked by Underwriters Laboratory (UL) to participate on a UL committee responsible for establishing test standards for the next generation of multi-criteria smoke and fire detectors. These multi-criteria devices are intended to significantly reduce false alarms in residential and commercial applications by measuring gases like carbon monoxide (CO) while working with traditional ionization and photoelectric sensor technologies now used for smoke and fire detection.
CO can also be a major health hazard in homes with malfunctioning combustion equipment.
Dr Jacob Wong, President of Airware Inc., and the inventor of AirTest's patent-pending zero-drift gas measurement technology, will be participating on the UL committee along with Mike Schell, VP of Business Development at AirTest. Dr. Wong possesses extensive experience, and numerous patents in the application of gas sensing in fire detection. The first meeting of this group will take place in late April 2011.
