LARAMIE, WY /Marketwire/ -- Pronghorn Technologies LLC has received a contract valued at $1.05 million for further development of its total residual oxidant (TRO) sensor system. The funds are provided under a NAVSEA Phase II SBIR contract. The work will be performed by Pronghorn at its location in the Wyoming Technology Business Center in Laramie, WY.
In development since 2005, the TRO sensor is designed for use with advanced shipboard desalination systems used to create potable water and water disinfection systems used to clean cooling lines for propulsion and HVAC systems. The compact in-stream sensor is capable of continuously detecting and reporting residual oxidant levels in hypochlorite-enhanced seawater streams used to kill marine organisms.
"This new contract will ensure that we have the necessary resources to put the finishing touches on our TRO Marine Smart sensor for shipboard validations and procurement by the U.S. Navy," said Weston Welch, Pronghorn Technologies President & CEO. The TRO Marine Smart sensor provides advantages over current state-of-the-art sensors including the ability to provide real-time measurements, robust construction, minimal maintenance labor, and improved calibration stability.
Pronghorn Technologies LLC and ADA Technologies Inc. have received nearly $2.6 million in grant monies for the total residual oxidant sensor R&D since 2005.
