Trimble Adds Kenai Tablet to its Portfolio of Rugged Computing Solutions

SUNNYVALE, CA -- Trimble introduces the Kenai rugged tablet computer, an all-in-one computing solution that can transport a user's office to the field, forest, desert, manufacturing floor or boardroom. Known for its family of rugged handheld computers, Trimble brings the same durability, reliability and feature-rich design to the Kenai tablet's versatile configuration making it a powerful mobile computing solution for transportation, public safety, field service, forestry, utilities, mapping, insurance and other outdoor or service-related applications.

The Kenai tablet features a 10.1 inch capacitive multi-touch screen with WUXGA display technology to provide superior readability in virtually any extreme environment such as heavy rain or the brightest outdoor conditions without compromising performance or efficiencies. It is ideal for mobile workers using large forms and color-coded information such as technical illustrations.

Featuring the Microsoft® Windows® 10 Professional operating system, the Kenai tablet is a fully-functional field computer with a 1.46 GHz Intel® Atom™ dual-core processor to optimize the toughest workflow requirements for field-intensive applications, up to 8 GB memory, and a solid state drive (SSD) up to 256 GB. The battery is hot-swappable to provide hours of uninterrupted run-time. The tablet is expandable via two USB 2.0 slots. For connections to many industrial and manufacturing machines, the Kenai tablet also includes an RS 232 D9 serial port.

Standard features include integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, Bluetooth® and 8-megapixel camera for video and photos. The Trimble GPS receiver provides 2 to 4 meter accuracy, making it ideal for data collection in applications such as distributed asset management, work order management, fleet logistics, and more.

For security, the Kenai tablet provides a built-in, certified Trusted Processing Module (TPM) encryption module to allow security programming for Wi-Fi and direct connect authentication. The tablet is Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2 compliant for security in a variety of mobile device management applications.

With the multi-touch capacitive touchscreen, users can type with fingers, stylus or capacitive gloves and can control the size of the keyboard on the display for ease-of-use. Controlled zoom can optimize the user experience with maps and detailed information. The display supports use in landscape or portrait mode and is configurable to hold the orientation or to alter it in response to the accelerometer.

The Kenai tablet meets stringent MIL-STD-810G military standards for drops, vibration and humidity; and with an IP65 rating, it is protected against dust and water. Ruggedness, the Trimble brand and a full 2 year warranty make the Kenai tablet one of the most reliable products on the market for mobile workers.

Optional features include 4G LTE dual-mode data cloud-capability and an Extended Battery (also hot-swappable) for the most extreme conditions. Several configurations are available to provide the tablet that meets the right need at the right price.
