The BMM150 from Bosch Sensortec GmbH, Reutlingen, Germany, is a compact, triaxial magnetic field sensor that measures the terrestrial magnetic field over a ±1300 µT effective measurement range. The 1.56 by 1.56 by 0.6 mm device uses the company's FlipCore technology, has an onchip interrupt controller that sends signals to the host controller when sensor data have changed or customer-defined threshold values are exceeded, has 4 programmable power presets, consumes 170 µA at a 10 Hz data rate in the low-power preset, and has 0.3 µT RMS noise in the high-accuracy preset. Suited for use in smartphones, tablet computers, navigation systems, or remote controls, the geomagnetic field sensor can be combined with the company's other inertial sensors and sensor data fusion software to create a 9 DOF system.
