The BMA140 and BMA145 from Bosch Sensortec GmbH, Reutlingen, Germany, are MEMS accelerometers with a range of ±4 g and analog outputs for on-demand signal processing. The BMA140 is supplied in a 3 by 3 by 0.9 mm 12-pin LGA package while the BMA145 is the same sensor supplied in a 16-pin LGA package with a 4 mm edge length. Sensors provide a parallel analog output of measured values as 3 voltage levels proportional to measured acceleration in addition to a flexible serial analog output. Current draw is 0.9 µA in standby and 200 µA in full active mode. Applications include detecting inclination, motion, shock, and vibration in consumer electronics, such as mobile phones, game controllers, PDAs, and activity monitoring.
