The KXTH5 from Kionix Inc., Ithaca, NY, has factory programmable sensitivity that can be customized at any value between ±1.5 g and ±6 g and is suited for use in hard-disk-drive protection. Features include a 32 kHz sampling rate/axis, an integrated 4-channel multiplexer that reduces system microcontroller requirements to 1 ADC and 2 digital I/O and that has a 5 µs settling time, high SNR, low noise density, power consumption of 350 µA during operation and 5 µA on standby, factory-programmable options for switched-capacitor low-pass filter or no low-pass filter, and a 3 by 5 by 0.9 mm LGA package.
