PHOENIX /PRNewswire/ -- Tranzbyte Corp. announced that it has purchased ProximaRF Technology Holding Corp. Six-year-old ProximaRF produces a versatile and leading-edge portfolio of RFID readers, tags, sensor tags, sensor probes, and RFID-enabled data logging tags, based on the ISO 15693 standard of high-frequency (HF) (13.56 MHz) RFID. HF RFID is ideally suited for applications requiring a secure 1-to-1 device write and read. ProximaRF joins Altitude Organic Corp. as a wholly owned subsidiary of Tranzbyte.

According to Tranzbyte's President, David Gwyther, "ProximaRF will add versatility as well as intellectual and physical property to Tranzbyte's eight-year-old technology division. In addition to its currently expanding product line, I believe ProximaRF has the capability for the future development of RFID-related products intended to support future Altitude Organic–managed dispensaries. Future announcements by Altitude Organic regarding those initiatives will be forthcoming."

HF RFID is valuable for adding data security, providing the ability to monitor user actions/business processes, automate accurate data collection/retention and establish records from which to improve efficiencies and accountability for processes. Due to the unique identification assigned to each tag or sensor tag at production, and the ability to store larger amounts of data to each device than competing technologies, HF RFID is often chosen for applications where users require the ability to track objects or tasks individually and where they would like to be able to store additional product information or records directly with the item for efficient recovery and reference.

Originally founded to develop mobile RFID solutions for plant and field maintenance, Proxima has expanded to build on the traditional read and write uses of the secure technology by creating a unique line of passive (battery-free) HF RFID sensor tags and probes. "Proxima RF is the only company today to offer both a complete suite of its own HF RFID readers and passive RFID sensor products."

In partnership with a European-based RFID chip manufacturer, Melexis Microelectronic Systems, Proxima RF is developing a new line of passive RFID sensors and probes, based on the emergence of new passive sensing chip technology. Using the proprietary Melexis chip, the ProximaRF sensor tags and probes offer the full read-and-write functionality of standard RFID tags, with the added ability to provide sensor information through a single scan with a Proxima reader.

In late 2011, ProximaRF launched its proprietary RFID-enabled temperature sensor tags and temperature sensor probes to market, generating immediate sales and trial applications. Through this arrangement, Proxima RF products are currently undergoing field trials or being deployed in several national grocery retail stores and restaurants, as well as state utility commissions.

Proxima RF is working to increase its network of distributors and value-added resellers. With its Proxima RF line of RFID readers, sensor tags, sensor probes, and data logging products, the company seeks out opportunities with partners who have a unique software offering within market verticals, where the implementation of secure data collection and temperature sensing bring real and immediate ROI to users. These key markets include food safety, cold chain logistics, and healthcare/pharmaceutical, as well as factory and field maintenance applications.

About Tranzbyte
