PI (Physik Instrumente) LP, Auburn, MA, offers the PI miCos LPS-45 linear translation stage to position samples along a path with distances up to 1 in. The position of the moving platform is measured by an optical linear encoder with nm resolution and controlled in closed-loop operation by a motion controller; integrated piezo inertia drive with holding forces of 10 N. The device is 15 mm with travel range of 13 mm (1/2 in.) and 26 mm (1 in.). Uses include precision alignment in photonics, semiconductor, bio/nanotech applications, and aerospace and scientific research.
