Touch Panel Computer Covers Many Bases

The TS-TPC-7990 touch-panel computer is built on the NXP i.MX6 Cortex-A9 ARM CPU and available in a Solo or Quad Core configuration. It comes with either a resistive or capacitive screen, making it viable for any application that requires a touch-based Human Machine Interface (HMI) such as industrial automation, medical, automotive, self-service kiosks, and retail point-of-sale terminals.

An on-board socket capable of supporting NimbeLink cellular modems provides a path to cellular connectivity for applications such as remote equipment monitoring and control. Additionally, there is the option for a cellular modem via daughter card. This allows transmission of serial data via TCP, UDP or SMS over the cellular network.  WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 are also available, providing even more connectivity options.

For use in the field, the TS-TPC-7990 has a mPCIe slot which can accommodate a host of options and diverse set of I/O capacities.  In addition to an on-board mSATA connection, I/O interfaces include four RS-232 ports, three RS-485 ports, two USB 2.0 ports and a USB Host Port, a Gigabit Ethernet port, 10/100 Ethernet port, two CAN bus, one I2C, one SPI, and nine GPIOs. It also comes with built-in speakers and an audio codec with headphone and microphone headers.

The TS-TPC-7990 also supports TS-SILO as an optional feature that will provide up to 30 seconds of reserve power in the event of a power failure. This extra time gives the board time to gracefully power down and ensures file system integrity. A battery-backed real time clock (BBRC) keeps accurate time and a watchdog timer is available to help when a system becomes unresponsive in the field.
