The KXTJ2 from Kionix Inc., Ithaca, NY, is a 2 by 2 by 0.9 mm, low-power, high-performance triaxial MEMS accelerometer optimized for mobile handsets and tablets. The device uses the company's XAC sensing element that offers high stability; improved shock, reflow, and thermal performance; and reduces the need for production-line calibration. Features include current consumption of 2 µA in standby mode, 10 µA at low-resolution, and 135 µA for high-resolution mode; user selectable ±2 g, ±4 g, or ±8 g acceleration ranges and resolution; user-selectable output data rate; an I2C interface; an internal voltage regulator; and up to 14-bit resolution.
