The BMA355 from Bosch Sensortec GmbH, Reutlingen, Germany, is a 1.2 by 1.5 by 0.8 mm triaxial MEMS accelerometer for space-constrained applications. The low-power device offers 12-bit digital resolution; programmable ±2 g, ±4 g, ±8 g, and ±16 g ranges with sensitivity of 1024, 512, 256, or 128 LSB/g, respectively; programmable bandwidths from 1000 Hz to 8 Hz; full operation current draw of 130 µA at 2 kHz data rate; a flexible integrated interrupt engine; and support for motion detection, portrait/landscape orientation-switching, flat detection, tap/double-tap sensing, shock detection, free-fall protection, and advanced power management for mobile devices. Applications include hearing aids, sensor nodes in ubiquitous sensor networks, and consumer electronics.
