Maxim Integrated Products, Sunnyvale, CA, is a thermal sensor with ±1.0°C accuracy and 2 independent SMBus serial ports. The dual SMBus interface lets a GPU card controller and CPU board controller access temperature data of the GPU chip and graphics card to eliminate communication errors. The sensor also monitors its own internal temperature. The device operates over the 3.0–5.5 V supply range, consumes 500 µA of supply current, and is supplied in a 16-pin TQFN package. The device is specified over –40°C to 125°C.
