The ZMD31015 from ZMD America Inc., Melville, NY, is a signal conditioner IC with onchip diagnostics for use with most piezoresistive bridge sensors. The device provides amplification and sensor-specific correction of bridge sensor signals. Enhanced real-time diagnostics detect faulty connections, shorts, and power-loss events. An internal digital signal processor provides signal conditioning. The measured and corrected bridge values are provided at the signal pin, which can be configured as an analog voltage output or as a one-wire serial digital output.
