Sensor Signal Conditioning IC from ZMD

ZMD AG

The ZMD31210 cLite IC from ZMD AG, Dresden, Germany, interfaces with capacitive sensors and delivers 14-bit resolution and 0.5% accuracy over a range of capacitances and temperatures. The IC can interface with capacitive sensors from 2–260 pF with sensitivity as low as 125 aF per digital bit. It accommodates single and differential input sensor configurations. Current draw is 60 µA (<1 µA in sleep mode) over a 1.8–5.5 V supply voltage range. Features include 14-bit capacitive to digital conversion; 14-bit compensation of sensor offset, sensitivity, and temperature via internal DSP; calibration coefficients stored in onboard nonvolatile EEPROM; I2C, SPI, PDM, or alarm outputs.
