Quadtech Outfits New UL University Lab

Marlborough, MA -- QuadTech, a leading provider of AC/DC power sources and electrical safety test and passive component measurement solutions, is pleased to announce that Underwriters Laboratories (UL) has selected QuadTech's Guardian 6000 Plus Hipot Tester to outfit all lab stations in its new UL University campus at Research Triangle Park (RTP) in Durham, NC.

UL, a global leader in safety testing and certification, has opened its new state-of-the-art facility at RTP to house their newest initiative—certification in green and new energy industries. In a study by Clean Edge, a leading U.S. research and publishing firm, 10% of electricity in the U.S. could be powered by solar energy by 2025.

Personnel Certification, which opened July 26, includes classes to train and certify photovoltaic product and system installers. Training and certification will include studying safety regulations, as well as installing wiring and other equipment.

As part of all standard lab set-ups, QuadTech's Guardian 6000 Plus will be used by students to conduct electrical safety tests such as ground bond, AC/DC hipot, and insulation resistance tests. Electrical safety instruments, such as the Guardian 6000 Plus, help manufacturers in green industries achieve testing to UL 1703—The Standard for Safety of Flat-Plate Photovoltaic Modules and Panels.

"It is an honor that UL University chose QuadTech hipot testers to outfit all of the standard lab stations in their new state-of-the-art facility," says Mike Cronin, QuadTech's Vice President of Worldwide Sales. "QuadTech is helping more and more manufacturers in the alternative energy industry achieve testing objectives in electrical safety, so we're proud to be a part of UL's efforts to bring certification into this new territory."

UL unveiled their new RTP facility on July 15. Cronin was an invited guest at the grand opening, also attended by UL University President Patrick Boyle, UL President & CEO Keith Williams, Mayor of Durham William V. Bell, and other local dignitaries.

Adds Cronin, "I was happy to be a part of the grand opening and look forward to continued success in both of our companies' endeavors to provide quality instruments and services to our customers."

QuadTech and UL partnered in 2003 to jointly market UL's Knowledge Program Public Seminars for the Medical, Telecom, and Test, Measurement & Laboratory Industries. They continue to develop and enjoy a partnership, working together to help customers achieve testing goals.
