The Kinetic 3500 OMAP FPGA sensor development kit (SDK) from Alico Systems Inc., Torrance, CA, is a turnkey embeddable sensor development kit based on open-source software. The kit combines a TI OMAP3530 (Cortex A8 RISC processor and DSP) and a Xilinx Spartan 6 FPGA plus a set of sensor peripherals, including a triaxial MEMS gyro, triaxial MEMS accelerometer, triaxial magnetic sensor, GPS module, temperature sensor, and 20 Msps 12-bit ADCs and 14-bit DACs. The embedded Web GUI provides diagnostic and configuration capabilities. Applications include embedded industrial systems; high-speed data logging; vehicular, robotic, and location tracking; motion control and stabilization for SATCOM On-The-Move terminals; and high-speed video encoding/decoding.
