MAX4404/05/06/08 digital optical sensors from Maxim Integrated Products, San Jose, CA, measure red/green/blue (RGB) light levels, ambient visual light (ALS), proximity to the sensor, ambient IR levels, and temperature. The MAX44004 low-power ALS sensor consumes 5 µA; the MAX44006 and MAX44008 integrate RGB color sensors as well as ALS, ambient IR, and temperature sensors. The MAX44005 includes an RGB sensor plus an ALS sensor, ambient IR sensor, IR proximity sensor, and temperature sensor. All sensors are available in a 2 by 2 by 0.6 mm optical package and are suited for use in smartphones, tables, portable consumer devices, displays, digital light management, security systems, and medical devices.
