Sensor Platforms
The SSP1401 from Sensor Platforms, San Jose, CA, is a multichannel LRC sensor interface chip that lets you interface single or multiple sensors of various signal types and functionalities, including resistive, capacitive, inductive, piezoelectric, and pulse-count-based sensor elements. The IC has 6 user-configurable sensor drive channels, each of which can drive up to 60 mA for any given sensor. It requires 3 passive components aside from the sensor elements and can function directly off a power supply range of 1.6–3.6 V and draws 0.5 mA, depending on sensor load and sampling rate. Output is SPI.
