The M3000 from System Semiconductor Inc., Marlborough, CT, is a motion control IC that provides time-critical motion and motor tasks in silicon to control and position multiphase step motors. You can use the chip for both general machine control while simultaneously performing motion and motor control operations; a custom block of hardware controls the motor and handles all of the positioning functions. The chip incorporates communication and general analog functions and has a –40°C to 85°C operating temperature range.
