S8 sensors from IDEC Corp., Sunnyvale, CA, are 14 by 42 by 25 mm and are designed for use in packaging lines, food and beverage production, automotive, test and assembly, and electronic plant applications. Available in diffuse, polarized retroreflective, and background suppression with LED light emission versions, the laser emission versions (for background suppression and polarized retroreflective sensing modes) provide a <1 mm spot and switching frequencies to 10 kHz. S8 registration mark sensors have RGB emission and coaxial optics.
