EE-SX1 Series nonamplified slotted phototransistors from Omron Electronic Components LLC, Schaumburg, IL, have a fixed U-shaped housing carrying both the emitter and detector. The devices detect the presence of an object without direct contact and are offered in SMD, thoughhole PCB, and panel-mount styles. Packages are as small as 3.0 by 3.0 by 3.4 mm with slots from 1–5 mm wide. Applications include utility meters, ATMs and other money handling equipment, office automation, computer peripherals, and gaming.
