MEMS Motion Sensor from Analog Devices

Analog Devices Inc.

Analog Devices Inc., Norwood, MA, offers the ADXL345 triaxial digital iMEMS accelerometer designed for energy-constrained portable consumer products. The accelerometer incorporates an on-chip ADC to simplify hardware configurations in wireless handsets, personal navigation devices, and other mobile applications. Features include an output data range that scales from 0.1 Hz to 3.2 kHz, dynamic acceleration with ±2 g/±4 g/±8 g/±16 g user-selectable measurement ranges; 4 mg/LSB resolution across all g ranges, current draw as low as 25 µA, single- and double-tap detection, activity and inactivity detection, free-fall detection, user-programmable threshold levels, I2C and SPI interfaces, and 1.8–3.6 V operation. An on-chip FIFO memory block stores up to 32 sample sets of X, Y, and Z data. By sampling input data, the sensor can determine if the system should be actively responding to a change in movement or acceleration.
