The ADXRS642, ADXRS646, and ADXRS649 from Analog Devices Inc., Norwood, MA, are MEMS gyroscopes with analog output specifically designed for angular rate (rotational) sensing in harsh environments. The company's differential quad-sensor technology rejects the influence of linear acceleration and vibration to provide accurate, reliable rate sensing even in the presence of severe shock and vibration. The ADXRS649, for applications that require ultrawide measurement ranges, features a ±20,000°/s measurement range extendable to ±50,000°/s with an external resistor and 3 ms start-up time. The ADXRS646, for high-performance heading measurement and platform stabilization, offers a ±250°/s measurement range, 1 kHz bandwidth, and 8°/hr. drift with low broadband noise. The ADXRS642 is a drop-in upgrade for existing iMEMS gyro users that offers a ±250°/s measurement range with improved vibration and shock immunity.
