The iC-MU from iC-Haus GmbH, Bodenheim, Germany, is a fully integrated single-chip magnetic encoder IC for motion control applications such as absolute, incremental, and commutation encoders. Position data are generated in real time and provided through BiSS, SSI, and SPI serial interfaces and as an incremental signal without processing delay. FlexCount interpolation lets you configure any pulse count; the IC integrates all required encoder functions into a 5 by 5 mm chip. Features include a typical operating distance of 4/10 mm; 2 simultaneous sine-to-digital converters; traversing rates of up to 16 m/s with 0.16 µm absolute position resolution over a distance of 164 mm in linear systems and up to 24,000 rpm in rotary systems and encoders at a resolution of 5 arc-seconds.
