The MCP9804 from Microchip Technology Inc., Chandler, AZ, provides a measurement range of –40°C to 125°C with accuracy of 0.25°C typ. and ±1°C. The sensor has a static current consumption of 200 µA typ. Supplied in an 8-pin MSOP or 2 by 3 mm DFN package, the I2C device features programmable shutdown to extend battery life, an alert feature for over- and under-temperature window monitoring, and a critical-temperature alert feature. Applications include industrial freezers, consumer electronic devices, and automotive applications.
