LDRA Extends Comprehensive Analysis and Testing into Russia’s Safety-Critical Industries

LDRA selects Prosoft, a provider of embedded-systems technologies and services, to deliver the LDRA tool suite to regional customers

Wirral, UK — LDRA announced that it has chosen Prosoft as a distributor of the LDRA tool suite and certification services to customers in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). As a prominent provider and integrator of technologies for safety- and security-critical markets, Prosoft is ideally positioned to deliver expertise and support of the LDRA tool suite in developers’ local languages.

With this agreement, LDRA extends its reach to companies that face an increasing need to certify safety- and security-compliant systems. The growing volume and complexity of code in the safety- and security-critical markets has driven companies to seek out automated software testing and verification systems to avoid the prohibitive costs and schedule overruns endemic in a manual compliance process. The LDRA tool suite, with its ability to configure process and coding standard rules, is ideal for Prosoft customers who must adhere to international regulatory guidelines as well as stipulations from Russian regulatory agencies.

“In addition to meeting safety- and security-critical standards, companies in Russia and around the world must manage other factors such as cost, schedule, and liability,” said Ian Hennell, Operations Director of LDRA. “With our tools, companies can incorporate requirements from multiple standards whether international, national, industry, or in-house and apply them across their entire development life cycle. Because the LDRA tool suite can then automate the tracking, testing, verification, and documentation of these requirements, developers save unprecedented time and cost while also reducing corporate risk.”

For Prosoft, LDRA’s ability to bring compliance rigor to the application layer meets a pressing need in Russia and the CIS. Historically, Prosoft has delivered a wide portfolio of hardware and software solutions founded on safe hardware and qualified operating systems from companies such as Wind River and QNX. However, the increasing complexity and volume of code in such solutions has challenged Prosoft customers’ ability to verify application code and provide a wholly certified system. As a quality tool already qualified in Russia, the LDRA tool suite can be extended to support security analysis and compliance, which creates an opportunity for further streamlining through re-use of already qualified code.

“By gaining the ability to achieve end-to-end analysis and verification of the application layer through the LDRA tool suite, Prosoft can now meet customer needs for a completely safety- and security-certified system,” said Nikolay Gorbunov, Embedded Software Platforms and Tools Product Manager at Prosoft. “In Russia, where adoption of international safety and security standards more frequently complements the existing regional criteria, a framework that enables developers to detail all requirements and then track those artifacts throughout the entire application life cycle represents a significant efficiency breakthrough. Such efficiency has a direct impact on our customers' schedule and bottom line.”

By way of 10 branch and over 30 reseller offices in Russia and the CIS, Prosoft provides local-language support to a broad customer base of automated-control and embedded-systems developers. Through standards-specific templates and industry-tailored compliance processes, the LDRA tool suite offers immediate value to the Prosoft customer base in avionics, nuclear, defense, rail, and other safety- and security-critical industry sectors.
