IUS Technologies Unveils Utility Smart Sensor

ALPHARETTA, GA /BUSINESS WIRE/ -- Balancing the newest initiatives trickling down from the Obama administration, IUS Technologies, has introduced their new smart sensor for distribution automation to the U.S. utility market and cater to the precise and intricate needs of multiple utilities. A subsidiary of the $1 billion Vitzro Group from South Korea, the VS2000 is the latest release following IUS VS1000 and VS3000, becoming the most precise instrument of the VS series. It is an economical and flexible sensor with an industry leading accuracy of 0.2%.

This new sensor includes a completely integrated solution that supports a wide variety of communication options. It is ideal for conservation voltage reduction, volt VAR control, volt VAR optimization, theft detection, and other distribution automation applications. The VS2000 enables utilities to reduce outage frequency and duration, as well as reducing energy losses, which is crucial due to the current elevated costs for electricity.

"With the radical changes currently impacting today's energy market, the flexible technology that we are introducing is imperative to the growth and improvement of the smart grid," says Sang Lee, CEO of IUS Technologies. "The ability to work direct with our utility partners on the creation of the VS2000 has made it one of the most accurate and efficient sensors available today."

Since it's inception in 2010, IUS Technologies has been making waves in the U.S. utility industry with its highly efficient and affordable technology. Constructed to be extraordinarily flexible, the VS2000 is currently being line tested by both Georgia Power and Baltimore Gas & Electric. As with its predecessor the VS1000, the VS2000 incorporates improved asset utilization, capacity management, load forecasting, and facility planning. However, the VS2000 model incorporates both 3-phase voltage and current monitoring in a single device.

Providing utilities with the ability to make the right decisions throughout the distribution grid and customer satisfaction are key for this device. It provides automated monitoring and alerts to the utility, constantly feeding actionable real-time data, from a variety of power measurements, to ensure customers receive quality power. It also provides alerts regarding energy theft and mass service interruptions. All of which are necessary to maintaining a consistent and reliable power grid. Manufacturing for the VS2000, as well as the entire VS series, will take place at IUS's Alpharetta, GA, manufacturing facility.
