Illuminance Sensor from Hamamatsu
Hamamatsu Corp.

Hamamatsu Corp., Bridgewater, NJ, offers the S10604 chip-on-board-type illuminance sensor that can be used for energy saving for large-screen TV brightness control, as a backlight dimmer in LCDs on cell phones, and other applications where the level of ambient light is measured. The sensor is supplied in a 2.0 by 1.25 by 0.8 mm package and has a spectral response close to that of the human eye. It is designed to reduce effects from IR LED light at 940 nm and features minimal color temperature error. Output variations are minimized when detecting light of the same brightness, such as light from a fluorescent lamp and an incandescent lamp.
