The Fastcam MC2 from Photron Inc., San Diego, CA, is a high-speed video imaging system for production line and automation fault-finding. The system incorporates two 35 by 35 by 35 mm camera heads and features a global electronic shuttering rate from 20 ms to 6 µs for slow-motion image capture. An automatic download feature allows the cameras to record indefinitely and unattended until a line jam or problem triggers the cameras, at which point they automatically download the high-speed imagery to a remote computer for evaluation. CMOS cameras are available in 3 models: frame rates are 500 frames/s for the Model 500, up to 2000 frames/s for the Model 2K, and from 60–2000 frames/s at full resolution (10,000 frames/s at reduced resolution) for the Model 10K.
