Series E miniature proximity sensors from Contrinex Inc., Old Saybrook, CT, are available in 4 mm, M5, 6.5 mm, and M8 sizes and can withstand up to 300 psi continuously on the front face. Features include 5 kHz switched output, tough sapphire (4 mm and M5 models) or thick ceramic (6.5 mm and M8 models) sensing faces, 10–30 VDC voltage supply range, 200 mA output current, and a sensing range stable from –25°C to 70°C. Applications include gear tooth detection, position control, dispensing, and water pumps.
