The ERO 6000 from Heidenhain Corp., Schaumburg, IL, is an angle encoder with a very small scanning head and flat design, designed for use in metrology systems, compact rotary tables, and air bearing spindles, laser trackers, and robot arms. The compact scanning head uses a divergent scanning principle that does not require lenses or beam-directing optics. The scale graduation is METALLUR graduation adhered to a steel hub and with a grating period of 20 µm, regardless of diameter. Two ERO 6000 designs are available, with line counts of 9000 and 18,000, respectively, and with 1 VPP and TTL interfaces. The encoder's scanning sensor uses an integrated signal error compensation function.
