The MAX9621 from Maxim Integrated Products, Sunnyvale, CA, is a dual, 2-wire Hall effect sensor interface with analog and digital outputs, suited for use in automotive body controllers such as window lifters. The interface chip enables a microprocessor to monitor the status of Hall effect sensors and has a programmable input current threshold for the digital output. Its high-side current-sense architecture elminiates the need for a ground-return wire without introducing ground shift. The device protects sensors from supply transients up to 60 V and short-to-ground conditions; has a min. 50 µs blanking time following sensor power-up or restart; and has a typ. 1 µA shutdown mode.
