Fujitsu Unveils ETERNUS DX200F All-Flash Storage Array

SUNNYVALE, CA -- Fujitsu, the leading information and communication technology (ICT) company, today announced the launch of the FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS DX200F, an all-Flash storage array that provides high-performance storage I/O for entry-level to Fortune 1000 enterprise customers.

"Most Flash storage arrays have been optimized to work for a specific storage workload or niche use case, and often times with questionable reliability, especially offerings from startups," said Alex Lam, vice president of the Enterprise Business at Fujitsu America, Inc. "The ETERNUS DX200F differs by providing a proven enterprise-grade, all-Flash solution that is the perfect platform for a wide range of workloads - such as high-performance database, real-time data analytics, VDI and batch processing. More importantly, by delivering these Flash capabilities starting at a single-digit dollar-per-gigabyte system price, Fujitsu is offering a compelling reason for customers to adopt Flash storage as a key part of their storage infrastructure plans."

High Reliability With Business Continuity

The new ETERNUS DX200F leverages proven reliability technologies of the ETERNUS DX S3 platform, one of the true enterprise-grade storage array platforms on the market today. All major components are redundant, including power supply and storage controller, to allow for continuous operations or for component swaps during an unplanned event outage.

Removing storage I/O bottlenecks

ETERNUS DX200F shortens batch processing times and eliminates the problem of processing lags caused by high-frequency storage access in a virtual-server or virtual-desktop environment. It helps create new business opportunities by enabling companies to run real-time analytics for big data, or to handle web traffic during peak times in a much smoother way.

Performance is achieved through the combination of solid-state drives and 12-gigabit per second (Gbps) SAS drive interfaces with exceptional transfer capability. Latency on the DX200F is extremely low, at less than 0.5 ms - ideal for I/O-intensive environments. The system architecture is optimized for high performance of business critical applications and infrastructures such as databases and virtualized environments, which typically are using block sizes of 8 KB or more.

Improving Storage Efficiency

Using the remote copy feature of FUJITSU Storage ETERNUS DX Series disk storage systems, the ETERNUS DX200F can be easily backed up to an ETERNUS DX Series unit that uses nearline HDD disks. Furthermore, the ETERNUS DX200F comes with standard support for thin provisioning, enabling administrators to establish virtual capacity regardless of the physical capacity of the solid-state drives. This makes it possible to add physical disks as storage needs increase without changing capacity settings, thereby increasing the utilization efficiency of storage resources and helping to optimize investments.

Availability

The Fujitsu ETERNUS DX200F all-Flash array is available for ordering starting in June 2014. The ETERNUS DX200F is available in capacities of up to 38.4 TByte of Flash-storage and offers flexible host connectivity with any combination of 10 Gb iSCSi and 16 Gb FibreChannel interfaces (with Infiniband to be offered in near future as well).
