FreeFlight and Septentrio to Partner

LEUVEN, Belgium and WACO, TX /PRNewswire/ -- FreeFlight Systems and Septentrio Satellite Navigation NV announced a strategic partnership to develop new, advanced GPS/SBAS receivers for ADS-B, RNP and LPV applications.

As the global air traffic management system continues to move away from radar-based operations to autonomous aircraft–based operations, aircraft need high-integrity, high-performance satellite-based position and navigation sources. The new systems being developed by FreeFlight Systems and Septentrio will satisfy this need for both new and in-service aircraft.

"Our goal is to make affordable equipment that will allow any aircraft to take advantage of the new services that are available as part of the global transition to satellite-based operations," said Tim Taylor, FreeFlight Systems President and CEO. "With the Septentrio engine at the heart of our systems, we are ensuring the best possible performance in all applications and global locations."

The Septentrio engine meets the most stringent performance standards for precision, integrity, and availability and is capable of using either the existing GPS constellation or the newer Galileo system.

"Septentrio is excited to work with FreeFlight Systems," said Peter Grognard, Managing Director of Septentrio. "FreeFlight Systems shares with Septentrio a vision of how GNSS technology can modernize aviation in practical, realistic steps. The practical experience and extensive presence in many platforms of FreeFlight products and their early involvement in aviation modernization programs, such as Capstone for ADS/B, fits excellently with Septentrio's pioneering spirit in Galileo and our experience and technology for building high-quality multi-frequency and multi-constellation GNSS receivers."
