The DNA-FPPC Series of 100Base-FX-based DA and control cubes from United Electronic Industries (UEI), Canton, MA, provides a fiber interface, extending the max. distance between a PowerDNA I/O Cube and its host computer to 2 km. A single-mode fiber interface extends the max. distance to 20 km. FPPC cubes are suited for distributed DA and control in large facilities or any application where the host computer must be remote from the I/O subsystem. Features include virtual immunity to EMI and electrical isolation between the host computer and I/O Cube.
