Festo Showcases Innovative Process Automation Solutions That Speed Up Procurement, Reduce Engineering Time, and Lower Risk

HAUPPAUGE, NY — Festo features at the 2015 Chem Show the company’s latest and most innovative automation solutions for OEMs and end users involved in chemical processing. Festo systems and components help to reduce time to market for OEMs and ensure both OEMs and end users of the utmost in safe operation.

For the first time at a North American chemical processing expo, Festo is showing its new pre-engineered automated valve assemblies. These assemblies feature a ball valve integrated with sensor box, Namur valve, actuator, and positioner. These packaged solutions meet the internationally recognized SIL 4 standard for emergency shutdown operation. These assemblies have NEC500, ATEX, and IECEx certifications for hazardous environments along with a host of new options. The units are globally supported by Festo.

Festo also introduces to the North American chemical industry a new Chemical Valve Technology (CVT) range of solenoid valves, now available following the Festo acquisition of Seitz in 2014. The solenoid valves are designed to meet the highest international safety standards for emergency shutdown (ESD) applications. These proven units, designed and manufactured in Germany, are now in use as control valves in the production facilities of leading chemical, petrochemical, consumer products, and pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The new CVT line includes direct-acting and pilot-operated solenoid valves and, like the ball valve assemblies, are globally supported by Festo.

The modular Festo valve terminal MPA-L is ideal for inert gas control and safe operation. With up to 32 valve locations, this small footprint universal valve terminal offers direct fieldbus connectivity, an integrated automation interface with the Festo CPX electric and pneumatic motion control platform, and the choice of multiple valve sizes and valve types.

“Pre-engineering and assembly helps decrease engineering time, lower inventory requirements, and reduce risk,” said Craig Correia, Head of Process Automation for Festo. “We provide complete integrated solutions from the valve level, including ball, butterfly, gate, diaphragm, and piston valves up to actuation, sensors, and our unique CPX electric and pneumatic motion control platform. We offer centralized pilot valve terminals, electrical terminals for I/O and pressure sensing, and proportional pressure valves. For safe operation, we offer certified systems that meet the highest international safety standards, including SIL 4 with NEMA/IP ratings for challenging environments, NEC500, ATEX, and IECEx.”
