The RFID/NFC radio module for the Waspmote sensor platform from Libelium, Zaragoza, Spain, lets you use sensor data in location-based services such as asset tracking, supply chain monitoring, intelligent shopping, or access management. The information given by the passive RFID tags is read by the RFID/NFC interface and then transmitted via ZigBee radio to an Internet gateway, where it is uploaded to a Cloud server. The identification data can also be sent directly to the Cloud using the Wifi radio that creates secure connections with the Web servers. The new module is available in 125 kHz and 13.56 MHz bands.
