Data Capture Solutions Company Unveils New Version of FineScanner

MILPITAS, CA -- The new version of ABBYY's powerful mobile scanning application which fully supports iOS 8 and its extensions is available in the Apple® App Store free of charge. A winner of the SUPERSTAR Mobile Star Awards™ for high-resolution scanning of printed and hand-written text, ABBYY FineScanner now delivers highly-accurate optical character recognition (OCR) and format retention for scanned documents in 44 languages, including Chinese, Japanese, Korean (CJK), and Cyrillic.

"We have interviewed our users on what features of the app are crucial for their everyday productivity. More than 40% voted for text recognition and now they have it," said Artem Kumpel, Director of Lingvo & Mobile Products Department at ABBYY. "We also restored a grayscale filter for getting sharp and high-contrast images not only in color and black-and-white, but also in grayscale versions."

The FineScanner for iOS 8 application allows for accurate online capture of text from scanned documents, retaining native formatting elements of the original text – such as bullets, tables, and headlines – and you can save the scanned document in any of 12 popular digital formats, including PDF, docx, and txt. The powerful OCR functionality is available either for subscription (per year or per month), or via the unlimited in-app purchase.

In addition, documents captured with the latest version of FineScanner, can now be exported to iCloud Drive among other online services such as Dropbox®, Box™, Evernote®, Google Drive™, Facebook® and Yandex Disk. You can also crop images of documents right inside the Photos by simply using the new iOS 8 Extension feature.

The application supports Apple iOS 7 and 8. For more information, visit http://www.abbyy.com/finescanner_ios
