Consumer’s Mantra: Laissez Faire Cryptocurrency And Blockchain

In an online Twitter poll conducted by the Consumer Choice Center, 85% of respondents say they don't want governments slowing down consumer innovation by outlawing cryptocurrencies and blockchain businesses. While not a scientific survey, the poll indicates a liberal regulatory regime towards cryptocurrencies and Blockchain businesses should be applied, and new legislation aimed at slowing down innovation should not be adopted.

Frederik Roeder, the Managing Director for the Consumer Choice Center (CCC) said this should be a positive signal to governments. He said, "This highlights the concern consumers and innovators have over whether governments such as the United States, Canada or countries in the European Union will implement stifling regulations in the sphere of Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies, and businesses concerned with the Blockchain. Cryptocurrencies represent a novel innovation in their infancy that could have a sweeping positive impact for millions of consumers. A sound approach by governments is to allow this industry to develop and consumers pick the best solutions rather than drafting new legislation which could potentially harm future innovations."
